July 24
Well, today was the last day of my weekends in Ireland. This morning, I went with Dr. Tietjen, Howard, Amanda B, and Hilary M to church downtown. It was so great being able to go to church. The service was done much like it would be done at a Methodist Church. There was a baby being baptised. It was so awesome! Afterwards, I went over to The Park Inn and watched the hurling game with some friends. Waterford beat Galway in the Quarterfinals! Up the Deise! That was pretty much all I did today. This will probably be the last week I write posts. I'll write posts until Thursday and then start back up later in the Fall. Bye.

A day out in Dublin
July 23
Since our plans got changed, we decided to make the best of it and spend the day in Dublin. When we checked out of our hostel, we walked around town. We went to the National Gallery of Ireland. The artwork there was beautiful! Afterwards, we stopped at the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch. That was pretty awesome! After lunch, we walked over to the National Museum of Archaeology. It was pretty cool to see how different artifacts progressed through time. Once we left, we took a taxi back to the bus station and took a bus back to our home in Waterford. It has been a long weekend. I'm gonna go to bed. I'll be waking up in the morning to go to a church service at a Cathedral downtown. Bye.

Lost in Translation
July 22
Well, this weekend has been quite an adventure. Things did not go as we had planned. We had originally planned on going to see the highest cliffs in Europe in Donegal. We had it all set up. On Friday morning we woke up at 5am and left our apartment at 6am, so that we could catch the 6:50am bus to Dublin. It took about two and a half hours to get to Dublin. Once we were in Dublin, we took another bus to Sligo. That took another three hours. We had to get off in Boyle because that was where we were going to stay for the night. When we got off the bus, there was someone already there to pick us up. He was one of the people that ran the hostel that we were going to stay at for the night. He drove us there, but come to find out, it was in the middle of nowhere. There was a lake, a field, and that was it. It was nowhere near town. There was no way we could get to town, unless we got a taxi. We were trying to find a way to go to the cliffs, but there was no use. It would have cost us more to get back to our hostel from the cliffs. With no chance of going to the cliffs, we decided at 4pm to just take a bus back to Dublin. So we got a taxi and it picked us up from our hostel and took us to the bus stop in town. It was another three hours back to Dublin. Once we got to our hostel in Dublin it was already around midnight. We had been on a bus for eleven hours total that day! So that's what happened. So what if our plans got changed. Some of the best moments in life are those that go unplanned.

What an Adventure!
July 21
Well, today was quite an adventure. It was our last field trip. Most of us went to Dublin. In Dublin, we went to Kilmainham Gaol. It was a jail that is now an historic site. It was pretty interesting. I had never been to jail before. It was quite an experience. Afterwards, most of the group split off. There were three groups of us. Two groups left and our teacher wasn't with us. So our group was pretty much left stranded. We had to find the bus to get our stuff, but that would mean we would have to go to the other side of town. So we had to find a way to get there. Luckily, we were able to take a bus to the center of town and we walked from there. But once we got there, the bus wasn't there, so someone had to call one of the teachers and ask him for the bus driver's phone number. Soon enough, we were able to get in contact with our bus driver and he came eventually. Once we got our stuff off of the bus, we walked to a hostel that some of the girls were going to stay at. They checked in and we were off once again. We had to walk to the Gate Theatre, which was where we saw the play tonight. We got a tour of the Gate Theatre. It is a nice building. The ceiling was gorgeous and I loved the chandeliers. It was small, but it could seat up to 371 people. The building was once a hospital. The play we saw was Molly Sweeney. It was very good. It was simple, yet very moving. Afterwards, we all walked over to the bus station, so I could get back home to Waterford. Now, I'm back at 1am. I'm very tired. Gonna go to bed. I'll check in next week. Bye.

Soccer Game
July 20
Classes went well today. We had a guest speaker at our culture class. His grandfather was the President of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Dinner was pretty good. I had pasta and an awesome raspberry dessert. After dinner, my teacher and a few of my friends went to a soccer game. It was a lot of fun! Waterford won! Woohoo! Overall, today was a great day. Gonna go on my last field trip tomorrow. I'll check back in later. Bye.

Last Tuesday Field Trip
July 19
Well, today was the next to last field trip. We went to Kilkenny. It's a neat town. We got to go inside Kilkenny Castle. That was pretty interesting. Later, we went to an Abbey. That was pretty cool. Overall, today was a pretty good day. Not too much going on tomorrow. I'll check back in later this week. Bye.

Another School Day
July 18
Well, my classes were pretty interesting today. International Relations is just blowing my mind! What I learned from Philosophy is contradictory to what I am learning in my Global Issues class. Not the first thing you want to hear on a Monday morning. In my Irish Drama in Performance class, we started rehearsing for our 2 minute scene that we have to act out as a class in front of the professor. It was a lot of fun! In my Irish culture class, we learned basic Gaelic. It is so interesting yet so confusing at the same time. I still had a lot of fun though. The meals were great today. I had two hot dogs for dinner! Yum! That's all for today. Gonna go on my last field trip with my morning class tomorrow. Check back in tomorrow. Bye.
